Archdeacon Will 1637 #22 Lonan, of Averick Kaighen als Kerran/Corrin,

dated 15 September 1637:

 

"Lonan: The 15th of 7ber 1637, Lonan: This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of Avericke Kerran. First she committed her sould to God & her bodie to Christian burial. Itt, to the poore at the discrecion of her execr. Itt, to her daughter Ellin Chaighen 1 choyse cow & so much red cloth as will be her a petticoat. Itt, to her daughter Jony her best coat. Itt, to her daughter Kathren Chayghen 1 coverlett & 1 kercheiffe. Itt, to her yongest sonn 1 steere or 1 yonge mayre in his brothers custodie. Itt, constituted & ordained her children vidz: Willm, Robt, Willm, Jony and Mally Caighen her true & sole execr to all her goodes moveable & unmoveable. Testes: Tho: Freew, Jony Cloage, iurati. Probatu est et Solvit 1s.

[The inventory is written in the same hand and with the same ‘pen’ as the above ‘probatue est et solvit 1s’.] The Inventory of Ales Cerren: In primis one mare 20s; It one foale 3s; It one yonge steare 2 yeares ould 9s; It on hefufer[?] 1 yeare ould 8s; It 1 ould mare 7s; It halfe a fether bed & boulster 5s; IT in sheepe and hoges 10 15s; It in pewter platters 800[?] 12d; It in sakxx[?] one a furlod 2s; It in wodden vessels 3 12d; It in wodden canes 3 4d; It in brass halfe a pan 8d; It in cheese 2 and a halfe 12d. Prased by William Christin, xxxxxx and William Christin junior. The whole some is 3 pounds 3 shillings. Donald Cannell et Gilbt Cordeige hath bound ymselves there heires & executrs to secure ye office subpoena double the value of this Inventory.

 

QUESTION: The Inventory is on the same page as with will of Averick Kerran, as if it belongs to the will. Did Averick go by the name Alice? Or did the name Averick sometimes get changed to Alice (like Johnette became Joney at the end of 1500s, which became Judith by the mid 1750s)? Or did the clerk write it wrong when writing the Inventory? Etc.
